Kazumitsu Kanatani is Head of Digital Strategy Planning at Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Since joining the company in 2005, he has built extensive experience across clinical development, business innovation, and digital transformation. For more than a decade, he led the clinical development of both Chugai-originated and Roche products, driving multiple new drug approvals in Japan. He later spearheaded the launch of new businesses, including diagnostic-related initiatives and insight-driven services aligned with Chugai’s growth strategy, TOP I 2030. Since 2023, he has played a leadership role in the company's enterprise-wide digital transformation. In his current position, he is responsible for corporate digital and AI strategy, DX portfolio management, and organizational transformation, leading initiatives that accelerate business transformation and create new value through AI and digital innovation.

At Chugai Pharmaceutical, we are advancing FinOps across a multi-cloud environment spanning AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, with a focus on enterprise-wide cost optimization and value realization. In this session, we will share our journey beyond traditional cloud cost visibility and optimization, highlighting two emerging dimensions of FinOps: AI for FinOps, where AI is used to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making, and FinOps for AI, where FinOps principles are applied to maximize the return on investments in generative AI. We will discuss how we balance governance with business agility while driving value-based decision-making from an enterprise perspective. The session will also explore our vision for FinOps 3.0 and its role in enabling sustainable digital and AI transformation.
