Jason Sharples serves as Senior Vice President and Unit CIO, Global Merchant and Network Services Technology (GMNST) at American Express, where he leads technology strategy and engineering for the GMNS business. Since joining in March 2023, he has advanced enterprise productivity and modernization through AI-assisted development, delivered GenAI automations that streamline policy and client briefing workflows, and leads the multi-year Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) program to strengthen cardmember data security. Prior to American Express, Jason spent over 15 years at Global Payments, most recently as EVP and CTO for Merchant Acquiring technology, with leadership experience across Hong Kong, Dublin, and Atlanta. Jason has more than 25 years of payments experience spanning frontline operations through global platform transformation.
