Emily Tan is Director Analyst at Gartner specializing in Cybersecurity for CIOs. For the past 4 years Ms Tan has been a lead reasearch partner with VP Distinguished Analyst Paul Proctor into security outcome driven metrics for CIOs. Her work on cybersecurity as a business decision helps organizations prioritize and invest in cyber through protection level agreements (PLA) and outcome-driven metrics (ODM). This work also led to the creation of the world's first protection-level benchmark that is transforming how organizations in every industry, of every size, globally measure, report, and invest in cybersecurity. Ms Tan advises CIOs and executives on how to strategically balance the need to protect with the needs of running the business.
Prior to joining Gartner, Ms. Tan spent 13 years in journalism across Malaysia, Hong Kong and London and was most recently Global Technology Editor for leading global advertising and marketing trade publication Campaign. Her role made her a thought partner to leading C-Suite executives across the world. She has led technology discussion panels at Web Summit , AdAsia and the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
