First Take: SAP’s API Policy Introduces Challenges to Third-Party AI

The SAP API policy of 22 April introduces restrictions to AI capabilities that do not run through SAP Endorsed Architecture, and introduces governance requirements for API-based integrated solutions. Organizations that have implemented or are planning to implement these AI solutions interacting with SAP applications should review their integration architectures against SAP’s documented endorsed patterns to ensure compliance with the new policy. The policy is in immediate effect, requiring an urgency to audit and potentially reengineer integrations to avoid noncompliance issues with SAP.
